Creating a convincing 3D logo using 2-dimensional software (i.e. Photoshop) is time-consuming and the product is often sub-par. Creating that same object with 3D software is quick and convincing!
Adding convincing materials to 3D models can create realistic objects that can be rolled, flipped, turned and blown apart. This is useful when your product can't actually do those things!
